Purpose of Establishment

Boogook Industries aims to grow into a sustainable company through environmentally friendly activities. To this end, Boogook Industries not only fulfills its environmental responsibilities and roles through the establishment of environmental management policies, but also minimizes negative environmental impacts that may occur in the supply chain and business as a whole.

Scope of Application

All employees of Boogook Industries' domestic and overseas production entities shall comply with this Environmental Management Policy. In addition, all employees of Boogook Industries shall encourage their suppliers and sales and service organizations to comply with this Environmental Management Policy when dealing with them.

Environmental Management Policy

1. Recognize the environment as a core success factor of the company, create corporate value through active environmental management, and fulfill corporate social responsibility.
2. Comply with domestic and international environmental laws and agreements, and establish and implement policies necessary to promote environmental management.
3. Strive for sustainable use of resources and energy and reduction of pollutants throughout the entire process of product development, production, sales, use, and disposal.
4. Play a leading role in transparently sharing and practicing environmental management to engage stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and local communities.
5. All executives and employees shall comply with this policy and strive to become a trusted company that contributes to social responsibility and environmental preservation.

Policy for Each Area

Boogook Industries will protect natural capital and promote carbon neutrality and energy transition, develop eco-friendly products and services, revitalize the circular economy, and create eco-friendly workplaces as follows by environmental factors.

1. Raw materials

   Boogook Industries establishes policies to efficiently use raw materials used in the production of products and services and minimize unnecessary waste, and monitors whether any raw materials are produced in an illegal manner that damages natural capital or causes environmental pollution.

2. Energy Use

   Boogook Industries shall continuously promote activities to reduce energy usage, such as replacing old facilities with reduced energy efficiency, introducing energy-efficient facilities, and developing and applying eco-friendly construction methods to minimize energy usage, and consider ways to improve energy management efficiency based on energy and greenhouse gas monitoring and data analysis.

   Goal: Reduce energy use by 10% by 2030 (2020 baseline)

3. Greenhouse Gas Emission

   In order to actively respond to climate change and achieve the goal of Net Zero, Boogook Industries shall prepare practical GHG reduction measures, promote the transition to a renewable energy system in stages, and establish and implement policies to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality in consideration of the business status.

   Goal: Reduce GHG emissions by 10% (Scope 1, 2) by 2030 (2020 baseline)

4. Water and Wastewater

   Boogook Industries recognizes the need for sustainable water environment preservation and conserves water to improve the sustainability of water resources, and minimizes the environmental impact in treating wastewater generated from manufacturing activities.

   Goal: Reduce water usage by 10% by 2030 (2020 baseline)

5. Waste

   Boogook Industries reduces waste generated in the course of business operations and establishes and operates management standards for storage, transportation, treatment, etc. to efficiently handle generated waste. In addition, storage and transportation are carried out according to management standards for each type of waste, and waste outsourcing companies are strictly managed to ensure that waste is disposed of legally.

   Goal: Reduce waste generation by 5% by 2030 (2020 baseline)

6. Waste Products

   Boogook Industries shall improve recyclability by considering whether products are recyclable from the design stage, and actively review waste product recovery and recycling services. In addition, we shall provide information on waste product recovery systems to guide customers in the proper disposal of waste products.

7. Hazardous Chemicals

   Boogook Industries shall identify the current status of (hazardous) chemicals used in the production process or contained in products, and establish and implement hazardous substance management policies, including reducing the use of hazardous substances and managing hazards.

8. Air, Water, Soil Pollutants, Noise and Vibration

   Boogook Industries is committed to minimizing negative impacts on the environment and protecting the safety and health of customers, employees, and local residents by reducing the emission of air, water, and soil pollutants and the generation of noise and vibration to the surrounding areas, including business sites, and managing them with strict limits based on national laws and regulations.

9. Biodiversity

   Boogook Industries recognizes the importance of restoring natural ecosystems and preserving biodiversity, actively reviews ecosystem conservation measures to minimize negative impacts, and recognizes the potential impacts of its business on the environment and biodiversity.

10. Compliance with Environmental Laws and Regulations

    Boogook Industries shall clearly recognize environmental management laws and regulations to be complied with in the course of business operations, and actively carry out investment and improvement activities to resolve risks. In addition, we continuously motivate the enactment and revision of environment-related laws and regulations, and strive to comply with them in a leading manner through training to strengthen laws and regulations for employees.

11. Environmental Pollution in Local Communities

    Boogook Industries shall consider the impact of environmental issues on local communities throughout its business operations and establish and implement measures to manage them rationally.

Governance for Implementations

1. Management Role

   Boogook Industries shall supervise the overall environmental management risk management and performance improvement activities through the management council in which the chief decision maker or key decision makers participate. The main roles of the management council are to deliberate on the establishment/revision of environmental management policies, review environmental management risks, check environmental management progress, discuss countermeasures against environmental management risks, and other matters deemed necessary for the spread/dissemination of environmental management.

2. Implementation (role of dedicated organization)

   Boogook Industries shall establish a dedicated organization (support team) for the implementation of environmental management to perform related tasks. The main roles of the dedicated organization are to establish and operate an environmental management system, protect and restore environmental capital, prepare and implement policies to manage pollutant emissions generated in the course of business operations, identify and improve environmental risks, spread and disseminate environmental management, and conduct other external cooperation activities. In addition, the dedicated organization works with development, purchasing, and production organizations to expand eco-friendly products and services.

3. Education

   Boogook Industries conducts environmental management education for employees and other stakeholders to improve awareness of the need for environmental management. In addition, through environmental management education, employees are encouraged to develop an eco-friendly mindset in the course of their work.

4. Communication with Stakeholders

   1. Government Agencies

      We share our environmental management performance with government organizations and proactively respond by checking the direction of government policies. In addition, we shall understand and comply with environmental laws and regulations by country.

   2. Supply Chain

      We share our experience in promoting environmental management with the supply chain, and operate communication channels to continuously consult with the supply chain to create environmental value throughout the value chain.

   3. Customers

      We provide environmental information on products and services, and reflect opinions collected through customer contact channels in the development process of eco-friendly products and services.

   4. Communities

      We collect opinions from local governments, public-private councils, etc. to mitigate the environmental impact of our business operations, and strive to identify and resolve grievances raised by local communities.

5. Performance Management

   Boogook Industries sets performance targets for environmental factors that have significant environmental impacts due to its business operations. In addition, we regularly check the status of targets and the performance rate achieved compared to the targets. The effectiveness of the activities and the challenges in the process of implementing the goals shall be comprehensively checked.
